Bitter Melon

This is called a bitter melon.  Have no idea what it tastes like except that I am sure it is quite bitter.  Just thought it was cool looking.

Sunday Skateboarder

Finally I have the use of my camera again!  My battery charger and backup battery were missing so I ordered new ones online and it took FOREVER  for them to be shipped to me.

This morning when I came out from the market, I saw some boys skateboarding in the park near by.  I took this shot through the chain-link fence.  Would’ve stayed longer to shoot more, but I had food in the car that needed refrigeration.

I was glad to see that all of the young skateboarders were wearing protective gear.

I Got Lei’d at My Exhibit

My friend, Robyn, drove with her husband, up from Torrance to my Artist’s Reception at the No Roses Gallery in Sherman Oaks.  I am wearing the beautiful lei that she made for me!  Awesome!

Beer Tasting at Whole Foods

The other day, Carol, Garrett and I decided to meet for a beer at the Whole Foods in Tarzana.  To our delight, there was a menu board listing the beers available for tasting.  We each chose four and they arrived on this small wooden tray.

Our sampler consisted of four beers in glasses about 4 inches high.

Apparently, one is supposed to breathe in the fragrance of the beer and comment on the various subtleties of flavors before proceeding to the tasting of the beer.  My comment,  “It smells like beer.”

Garrett takes notes on each beer he experiences.

 

 

 

 

 

Garrett had a small black notebook in which he records his impressions of each beer.  I knew that I was sitting with experts but was unprepared for the seriousness with which they approached their brew tasting.

 

We had a lot of fun tasting and discussing the attributes and distinctions of each beer and ended up buying some to take home as well.

Installation

Spent yesterday working with Lisa and Tracy at NoRoses Gallery, in Sherman Oaks, to install my Palms Up photography series in time for Fashions Night Out  this Thursday night.  It was a long day but we got it done.  Mostly due to Tracy’s unflagging energy climbing up and down ladders, marking, measuring, etc.

“Love” at the Mirage

This hallway is the entrance to the Cirque Du Soleil show, “Love”, at the Mirage Hotel in Vegas.  Great show!!!
